Denmark Street in central London is also know as the British Tin Pan Alley. Since the 1950s it has had a strong connection to musicians and music. It is home to London’s biggest and greatest collection of music shops.

In the 1950s it was packed with Jazz and Rhythm and Blues players. It was THE place for songwriters and publishers too.

In the early 1960s, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix recorded in Denmark Street. In 1964, The Rolling Stones recorded their first album, The Rolling Stones at Regent Street Studios, in the street. In the early 1970s, Elton John recorded Your Song here too and mentions it in his song, Bitter Fingers in his 1975 album, Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Cowboy.

In the late 1970s, the Sex Pistols lived, rehearsed and recorded at number 6 Denmark Street, which is now the Vintage & Rare Guitars shop.

Thanks for coming to our shop at Zazzle. I love your site, too. Now a-days I’ve added digital drawing guitars to my fun things to do. I love every kind of guitar! My husband and I have a small collection of 14 different guitars. I’m working on drawing a vintage model gibson-like guitar now. Like many, I started playing when the Beatles broke (I love your Beatle pics!). I don’t remember if the sunburst you commented on was with or without text? There’s another sunburst design I named “SunKing” next to it. The font is called ‘yellow submerine.’ That’s my only Beatle connection in my work. I’ve also thought about making a Richenbacker (sp?) someday.
